Optical Flares Nuke
Flares are an interesting addition to any Nuke sequence. They were first used by filmmakers to create a mystical look to their sequences. Today, they are used by many filmmakers for compositing in post-production to create the classic look of lens flare. They can easily be added to any Nuke sequence. The flares are composed of many different layers that can be edited into the final image.
Some of the first flares I made were fairly simple. With practice, it becomes easier and easier to create more complex simulations that rival the production of Flare Plugins such as Optical Flares. Nuke plugins do not do all that much beyond wrap the dailies in your hand. The simulations of these plugins do just that by using the tools provided by the Nuke software. Nuke provides a variety of tools that are used to create, manipulate, and expose (remove parts of) images. These tools are connected to one another by plugins, and are, therefore, an integral part of a Nuke sequence.
Movietools offers a set of professionally created effects for Photoshop. The selections include the most useful and the most popular lens flares and lens flare correction in the market. The plugin works best when used with the latest versions of Photoshop, such as CS2 and up. Movietools lens flares is unique in that they offer correction of lens flares in-camera for video, allowing the editor to actually shoot the correction in, then export to the media project. Movietools lens flares is completely royalty free, licensed by the designer under the terms of the GNU General Public License.
MotionFlares was built to easily create beautiful, natural lens flares in a snap. It provides a library of light, lens flare and effect filters that can be applied in any post production program to create outstanding lens flares using simple presets.
Lens flare are optical anomalies which are the result of the diffraction of light through imperfections in the lens. Lens flares are usually considered in the context of the Hollywood film industry, but are a natural occurrence and often used effectively in still photography. If youre looking for a way to add a little more shot-making feel to your videos, go ahead and try to build your first in house lens flare. Below are some of the most popular lens flare plugins on the market. Please know these effects were not used in any way for the production of this video. They are included here for reader, viewers, and students like us to build a lens flare effect from scratch and to see the effect of different elements in the video editors tool-set.
