.Effect of podophyllotoxin and surface treatment on shape, hardness and fracture strength of fissure sealants.
This study evaluated the effect of podophyllotoxin (Hoffmann-La Roche, Basel, Switzerland) and surface treatment on the fracture resistance of two fissure sealants. Sixty freshly extracted human molars were sectioned to expose the occlusal surfaces and the cavities were randomly filled with two fissure sealants, a light-cured (Adper Prompt L-Pop/3M ESPE, St. Paul, MN, USA) or a dual-cured (Adper Scotchbond/3M ESPE) sealant. After 24 h, a fissure was created in the mesio-occlusal-distal (MOD) surface of each tooth. Group 1 received no treatment; group 2, 20 μmol of podophyllotoxin for 60 s; group 3, surface treatment with a 20 s application of phosphoric acid +20 s silanization; group 4, surface treatment with a 60 s application of phosphoric acid +20 s silanization; and group 5, surface treatment with a 20 s application of phosphoric acid +60 s silanization. The specimens were mounted vertically in metal jigs and fractured with a cylindrical loading plunger on an Instron universal testing machine (Instron Corp, Canton, MA, USA). The mean fractured force and standard deviation of the groups were analyzed using an analysis of variance and the Tukey test (α = 0.05). The results indicated that the light-cured fissure sealant was less resistant to fracture than the dual-cured fissure sealant. Surface treatment increased the fracture resistance of the light-cured fissure sealant; however, it decreased the fracture resistance of the dual-cured fissure sealant.In recent years, viewing programs have been provided on television sets to allow users to change a destination program at a changing time from a certain start time (i.e., a specific start time such as 3:00 pm or 7:00 pm).
